INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES
CASTL/SOTL FELLOWSHIPS Three new CASTL Fellows join our advisory committee. Fellows undertake research that advances their personal agendas, as well as contributing to the growing knowledge of how classroom activities impact student learning. John Cabra, Assistant Professor in the International Center for Studies in Creativity will study the effects of teaching statistics using visual Java applets and Minitab macros on student attitudes toward, engagement with, and understanding of statistics. Gary Welborn, Associate Professor of Sociology will investigate the role of service-learning pedagogy in helping students to breakdown stereotypes and prejudices and in building sensitivity and commitment to social justice issues.
