Academic Exchange Quarterly
Academic Exchange Quarterly, ISSN 1096-1453, is an independent double-blind-peer-reviewed
journal, that published research, commentary, and other manuscripts that contribute
to effective instruction and learning regardless of the level or subject.
Active Learning in Higher Education
This new journal of the Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher
Education (ILT) is an international, refereed publication. As the journal
of the Institute, Active Learning in Higher Education supports this mission
and is devoted to all aspects of development, innovation and good practice
in higher education, including the use of Information and Communications Technologies
(ICTs). The journal seeks to share practitioner experience through case studies,
action research reports and accounts of changing practice and theoretical
perspectives. Active Learning in Higher Education embraces academic practice
across all curriculum areas in higher education.
American Journal of Education
This journal seeks to bridge and integrate the intellectual, methodological,
and substantive diversity of educational scholarship, and to encourage a vigorous
dialogue between educational scholars and practitioners. To achieve that
goal, papers are published that present research, theoretical statements,
philosophical arguments, critical syntheses of a field of educational inquiry,
and integration of educational scholarship, policy, and practice.
Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education
The purpose of the journal is to help advance understanding of assessment
and evaluation practices and processes within the various disciplines representative
of higher education, particularly in the contribution they make to student
learning, and to course, staff and institutional development.
Change: The Magazine of Higher Learning
Change spotlights trends in, provides new insights about, and analyzes
the implications of educational programs. Articles cover influential institutions
and individuals, new teaching methods, curriculum, finances, governance, and
public policy. Change is published six times a year with editorial leadership
provided by the American Association for Higher Education. Editorial content
includes special departments, regular columnists, a wide-ranging book review
section, and in-depth analytical features on current issues in higher education.
The College Student Journal
This journal publishes original investigations and theoretical papers
dealing with college student values, attitudes and opinions and all aspects
of post-secondary instruction, instructional design, and evaluation.

College Teaching provides an interdisciplinary forum on issues related
to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This journal is interested
in articles that explore: (1) Aims and outcomes of teaching philosophy and
practices that have significance beyond a specific discipline. These may include
teaching techniques, new classroom procedures, evaluations of innovative programs,
and examination of contemporary developments. (2) Teachers’ roles, education,
professional development, preparation to teach, and evaluation. (3) Incentives
that encourage good teaching and ways good teaching is evaluated and rewarded.
Harvard Educational Review
A scholarly journal of opinion and research in education with the
mission to provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussion and debate about
education's most vital issues. Each year, the Review covers a wide range of
topics of current concern in education. Each quarterly issue of the Review
book length, containing a variety of articles, essays, and book reviews.
The Educational Forum
This is a publication of the Kappa Delta Pi the international honor
society in education. The journal presents scholarly inquiries that generate
new knowledge and insights into the improvement of education.
Educational Researcher (ER) is published nine times per year and is received
by all members of AERA. It contains scholarly articles of general significance
to the educational research community from a wide range of disciplines. ER's
Features section publishes articles that report, synthesize, or analyze scholarly
inquiry, focusing on manuscripts that examine the significance of research
in education and developments important to the field of educational research.
Higher Education Perspectives
Faculty, graduate students, scholars, researchers, policy makers,
and administrators in Higher Education and related fields are invited to submit
research articles, theoretical papers, literature, book and essay reviews,
or revised conference papers that analyze, challenge, and/or create Higher
Education theory, history, philosophy, policy, and Practice. Higher Education
Perspectives is a peer-reviewed journal published by The Higher Education
Group, Department of Theory and Policy Studies, at the Ontario Institute
for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto.
Higher Education Research and Development
The aim of Higher Education Research and Development aims to inform
improvements in practice through reporting research and evaluations and promoting
scholarly reflective articles on practice, policy and theory. The journal,
is addressed to university and college faculty from all disciplines and to
higher education administrators.
Innovation in Education and Training International
Innovation in Education and Training International concentrates mainly
on papers and reviews concerned with a range of teaching and learning issues,
from innovative teaching and learning strategies to developments in computer
aided education and training. With contributions from around the world, IETI
aims to stay at the cutting edge of the full range of educational technology
and classroom based developments.
Innovative Higher Education
Innovative Higher Education is a refereed journal that strives to
package fresh ideas in higher education in a straightforward and readable
fashion. It is open to diverse forms of scholarship and research methods;
balances a focus on practice and theory; presents innovations and provocative
ideas; and focuses on the effects of such innovations on teaching and students.
International Journal for the Scholarship
of Teaching and Learning
IJ-SoTL focuses upon higher/tertiary education and emphasizes that effective
teaching is measured by the qualilty and depth of student learning, that it
is serious intellectual work that requires sustained and complex work, that
it can be opened for conversations and collaborations among colleagues, and
that it can be evidence-based through pedagogical research. IJ-SoTL
has the vision of being the premier international SoTL journal by being an
advocate, agent and crucible for international conversations, contacts and
work on SoTL.
International Journal of Academic Development
Development in higher education is a fast growing area. This journal reports
on advances in theory and practice and includes discussions on the development
of models and theories for supporting and leading improvements in teaching
and learning, and debates current issues at the forefront of educational change.
Inventio: A Journal of Creative Thinking about Learning and
A journal of the Department of Instructional Improvement and Instructional
Technologies (DoIIIT) at George Mason University, the inaugural February 1999
issue focused on the scholarship of teaching and George Mason’s participation
in the Carnegie Foundation’s Teaching Academy.
Journal for the Art of Teaching
The Journal for the Art of Teaching is an annual publication by faculty
about teaching and learning. Each issue is focused on a single general topic
and is published in late spring. Article proposals are welcomed from any

The focus of the JCC is on moral and civic learning in higher education
and is published on the Internet by the Center for the Study of Values in

creative programs to improve student services. Manuscripts may focus on recent

address one of the following: support for the extension of knowledge in the
area of developmental theory, support for increasing sophistication in the
assessment of developmental change and the factors contributing thereto,

The Journal on Excellence in College Teaching
A peer-reviewed journal published at Miami University by and for
faculty at universities and two- and four-year colleges to increase student
learning through effective teaching, interest in and enthusiasm for the profession
of teaching, and communication among faculty about their classroom experiences.

Publishes basic and applied research studies that use the range of

A semiannual refereed journal providing current research and scholarship
on the first-year and other students in transitions. Dedicated to the collegiate

respected higher education researchers about the factors that relate to student

Journal of General Education
For faculty, administrators, and policy makers, JGE is the professional
forum for discussing issues in general education today. It addresses the general
education concerns of community colleges, four-year colleges, universities,
and state systems. Along with perspective essays on the role of general education

Journal of Public Service and Outreach
A peer-reviewed journal that is published three times per year (fall,
spring, summer). Contributions solicited include applied research, case studies,
and professional reports. JPSO welcomes submissions from a wide variety of

The Journal of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (JoSoTL)
The Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (JoSoTL) is a forum for the dissemination of the SoTL in higher education. This peer reviewed Journal promotes investigations that are theory-based and supported by evidence. JoSoTL’s objective is to publish articles that promote effective practices in teaching and learning and add to the knowledge base. Themes of articles include: data-driven studies; reflective essays; reviews; case studies; and comments and communications.
Journal of Student Centered Learning
The Journal of Student Centered Learning is published three times
a year to exchange both practical and theoretical information regarding the
planning, design, implementation, and assessment of practices and programs
that enhance college teaching and learning through student-centered learning.
The journal publishes research articles and descriptions of exemplary
practice related to improved college teaching, technology, development, and
assessment. Although oriented primarily to the interests of the practitioner,

Review of Educational Research (RER) publishes critical, integrative reviews
of research literature bearing on education. Such reviews should include conceptualizations,
interpretations, and syntheses of literature and scholarly work in a field.
RER encourages the submission of research relevant to education from any
discipline, such as reviews of research in psychology, sociology, history,
philosophy, political science, economics, computer science, statistics, anthropology,
and biology, provided that the review bears on educational issues.

(ASHE), The Review of Higher Education provides a forum for discussion of
issues affecting higher education. The journal advances the study of college
and university issues by publishing peer-reviewed articles, essays, reviews,

Studies in Higher Education
The editor of Studies in Higher Education encourages three kinds
of paper: those which illuminate teaching and learning by bringing to bear
particular disciplinary perspectives (such as those of sociology, philosophy,
psychology, economics and history, and cultural and policy studies); those
