2008 Survey Results:
In 2003, President Howard approved changes to the promotion and tenure policy at Buffalo State to provide parity among Disciplinary Scholarship, Applied Scholarship and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. These changes were intended to provide faculty with additional scholarship options and opportunities while providing departments with guidelines for evaluating the products of these new forms of scholarship. As part of the adoption guidelines, the Instruction and Research Committee recommended that this policy be reviewed and re-evaluated in five years.
A six item survey was mailed to individuals who received Promotion, Tenure, or contract renewal within the five year time frame. Seventy three the 118 surveys distributed were returned anonymously through intercampus mail. The majority of those returning of included scholarship of teaching and learning work in their review materials.
