SoT&L Publication Survey Results

Following are the results of a survey conduced with Buffalo State College faculty and staff after they were sent the publication The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning: Strengthening Education through Research and Collaboration. Reading about the work of colleagues was successful in:

• Developing understanding of the purpose of SoT&L;
• Encouraging reflection on teaching and learning;
• Establishing that BSC values this form of scholarship;
• Stimulating interest in learning more about SoT&L; and
• Creating interest in collaborative investigation of issues of teaching and learning.

I have read the new magazine-style booklet The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning: Strengthening Education through Research.

This publication helped me understand the vision and purpose of CASTL.

This publication indicates that the college recognizes and supports faculty who take a scholarly approach to teaching.

Reading the descriptions of my colleagues work made me think about ways I could study my classroom.

I am interested in presenting or publishing my work on the scholarship of teaching.

I am interested in attending a presentation, workshop, or faculty development day to better understand the goals and practice of this kind of scholarship.

I am willing to contribute to a group studying various aspects of teaching and learning (action research, peer review, etc.).
