Controlled Vocabulary List
CBIR uses a predefined list of terms to catalog
the bibliographic items within the database. This list identifies broad
terms and narrower terms within these broad terms designed to assist users
identify related materials. By using a combination of these main (broadly
defined) and sub (narrowly defined) terms, users will be able to focus
their searches to identify relevant materials. The main terms are identified
below as major bullets and the sub terms for each main term are listed
as subordinate bullets.
To search CBIR using the Controlled Vocabulary,
please enter the main and subordinate terms desired. For example, to find
information about creative processes, one would search for "process"
as a Descriptor. To find resources about creative teaching methods, one
would search for "education / teaching." To identify materials
about Creative Problem Solving (CPS), one might search for "models
/ CPS" or perhaps "problem solving / creative problem solving."
Please note that if you wish to search for
a main term and its subordinate term, enter the main term first, followed
by a space, the backslash (/), another space, and then the subordinate
term. If your searches do not identify the materials you seek, please
review the Controlled Vocabulary Definitions
(perhaps we have a different definition) or try a related term found on
the Controlled Vocabulary List. A 'printer-friendly' document of this
Controlled Vocabulary List is available in pdf format.
