This chapter provided an opportunity for the reader to work through a block of material concerning problem-based learning. This material parallels that which health science students work through in class and involves: (a) analysis of data, (b) examine the situation, (c) list tentative hypothesis, (d) identify the most likely hypothesis, (e) list learning needs, (f) identify possible resources, (g) plan activities, and (h) develop an action plan. The authors suggested that problem-based learning should be taught at the beginning of a problem-based course.
