The problem solving approach, Total Systems Intervention (TSI) was described as including three phases: (a) creativity; (b) choice; and (c) implementation all of which contain tasks, tools and outcomes. An example of TSI in use within a diagnostic biotechnology organization was detailed. Explanations of both the achievement and failure of this application are given. Implications for using TSI in other organizations were provided by explaining general TSI principles.
