The study was designed to determine if training in collaborative skills using the Cooperative Learning Model (Johnson and Johnson, 1975) would positively influence flexibility, fluency and originality responses of students in creative problem solving groups, as well as effect overall satisfaction scores. Two test groups and a control group were videotaped and evaluated by trained reviewers to quantify score responses. Results indicated that originality and satisfaction demonstrate statistically significant levels as a result of training, but fluency and flexibility did not significantly increase and group interaction indicated no significant difference. Implications of the effects of training in collaborative skills on productivity and group interaction in creative problem solving groups are discussed.
