This article shares the outcome of advocacy efforts made by a school district in Pulaski County, Arkansas, which recognized the need for desegregation and focused on efforts to boost African American enrollment in gifted programs. The Gifted Program Model (G-PAM) was used by the administrators in Pulaski County as a framework to promote the advocacy efforts and included: needs assessment, development of an advocacy plan and follow-up and evaluation. The author encourages other districts to follow Pulaski County's lead and address minority underrepresentation by being accountable, focusing on needs assessment and being proactive in leading change.
