This study examined the recidivism rate of two groups of Native Canadian inmates. The experimental group consisted of 31 inmates who received life training skills including academic and vocational testing, participation in learning CPS (framework presented by Treffinger, Isaksen and Dorval, 1994), and on-the-job training experience. The control group, randomly selected by computer and also consisting of 31 inmates, received no services. The results indicated that a program containing social skills, CPS training, and work experiences can significantly reduce recidivism.
