Greetings,

Soup and Scripture: Students, join us every Wednesday at 6pm for soup and a student-led Scripture Study. We will look deeply into the week's Gospel message and share our faith as a community. This is a great chance to expand your knowledge of the Scriptures and share your thoughts and experiences.

Mass of the Holy Spirit: The Mass of the Holy Spirit will be held on Sunday, September 8th at 10am in the newly renovated Campbell Student Union Social Hall at Buffalo State. We welcome all members of the community, students, staff, faculty, family, and friends. The Most Reverend Richard Malone, Th.D. will preside. A light reception will follow.

Resources for Life: Next Sunday after the Mass of the Holy Spirit, a representative from Life Resources, a Christian book store located at 3902 Maple Road in Amherst, will make available for sale various spiritual books and religious articles. The Newman Center will receive 20% of the cost of all sold. What a wonderful opportunity to get started on birthday and holiday shopping!

Movie Nights: Looking for a great way to relax during the semester? Join us for a monthly movie night led by Peer Minister and Film major, Jack Petrillo. Snacks and refreshments will be provided and the event is FREE!

The movie nights are as follows:

Wednesday, September 11th at 7pm

Wednesday, October 9th at 7pm

Wednesday, November 6th at 7pm.

Fall Retreat: Join us and our friends from SUNY Fredonia for a weekend-long retreat at Lake Chautauqua. We will depart on Friday, September 20th and return on Sunday, September 22nd. Student leaders will offer presentations on faith, spirituality, and self-reflection. Conversations and prayer allow for an enriching experience. The cost is $20 and provides transportation, food, and lodging. As always, cost should never prevent your attendance. If cost is a concern, please speak with Father Pat.

Eucharistic Minister Training: Are you interested in serving our community of faith as a Eucharistic Minister? If so, join Sister Candice on Sunday, September 29th at 12:30pm for an hour and a half session on examining the underpinnings of this sacramental service. Please sign-up on the sheet in the vestibule or call us at 716-882-1080. Help us all better become the Body of Christ.

Prayer:

A Prayer               Meditation 8 of 53

Loving God, we love how you love us. We love how you free us. We love what you have given and created to surround us. Help us to recognize, and to rejoice in, what has been given, even in the midst of what is not given. Help us not to doubt all that you have given us, even when we feel our very real shortcomings. We thank you for the promise and sign of your love in the Eternally Risen Christ, pervading all things in the universe, unbound by any of our categories of logic or theology.

We offer you ourselves back in return. We offer you our bodies, our little lives, our racing minds and restless hearts into this one wondrous circle of Love that is You. My life is no longer just about me, but it is all about you.

Amen.
