Henry Zomerfeld is a sophomore at Buffalo State College majoring in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Deviance and is a native Brooklynite. He has been a member of the Newman Center since he arrived at Buffalo State and is a student leader for our retreats and ministry conferences. You will see Henry participating as a Eucharistic Minister and lector at our 11:30 a.m. Mass Sunday mornings. In addition to his activities with us, Henry is the Chief Justice of the United Students Government Judicial Council and is the captain and head prosecuting attorney of Buffalo State mock trial competition team. In his spare time Henry loves to listen to rock music, play his Fender Strat guitar and hang out with friends.
Jessica Hall is a junior at Buffalo State College majoring in Theater. She began her involvement with the Newman Center community her freshman year, and has actively participated and helped plan many of our programs. She has become one of our most active members and her enthusiasm is unmatched. You may see her singing at our 11:30 Sunday Mass, socializing in our Thursday Night Dinners and fraternizing with new as well as old members of the Newman Center community. She is also highly active in the Buffalo State campus by participating in mostly every show held by the Theater Department and by holding the position of Treasurer of Casting Hall Productions.
Alex is a sophomore at Buffalo State College majoring in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. She has been involved with the Newman Center since her freshman year, and has become an active member in the community. She feels that it is an honor being a minister for the Newman Center because it is a great living experience and is composed of a diverse group of professionals who genially care about one another. She loves getting to know people, enjoys giving a helping hand to those in need and take pleasure in taking advise from other members of the community. The Newman Center has become a second home for her because the staff have provide a great deal of support, which she is truly graceful for. She encourages people to join the Newman Center because she wants people to be part of our diverse family, where everyone is welcome.
William Sanchez is a sophomore at Buffalo State College majoring in Social Work with a minor in Coaching. He was born in Guatemala and relocated with his parents to Bronx, NY at age 14.
He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School where he played soccer during his entire attendance. As a student, he has gained a strong sense of leadership. He served as a summer orientation leader in 2009 with the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). He is currently working as a first year ambassador and mentor for EOP, adding to his personal and spiritual growth. He encourages every Buffalo State College student to become part of our Newman Center Community, which is a great place to nurture oneself; personally and spiritually.
Dayana Castillo is a sophomore at Buffalo State College majoring in Economics with a minor in Legal Studies. She works as a first year ambassador for EOP and is the treasurer for the Economics club. As an active member of the Newman Center family, she has grown spiritually in every aspect of her life. After graduation she would like to enroll in law school to become an attorney. Dayana believes that through God everything is possible.
