Fr. Patrick Zengierski, Ph.D., is the Director of Campus Ministry here at the Buffalo State College Newman Center. He is a priest of the Diocese of Buffalo, ordained in 1991. He has been involved in higher education for over thirty years, serving in both teaching and administrative positions at the University at Buffalo, Canisius College, the University of Virginia, and Christ the King Seminary. Father Pat is available for reconciliation, spiritual counseling, or if you need someone to listen.

Carmen Schaff is a graduate from Niagara University with a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in Women's Studies. She enjoys service, art, and holds a special place in her heart for Grunge music. She encourages anyone to stop-by her office for coffee and great conversation!

Henry Zomerfeld, originally from Brooklyn, NY, is a Buffalo State College graduate, with his B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Legal Studies. He is currently pursuing his J.D. at the University at Buffalo Law School. He has been a member of the Newman Center since he arrived at Buffalo State over five years ago. You will see Henry participating as a Lector at our 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday mornings. He is passionate about social justice, and his activites with us,in his time at Buffalo State, and currently in his work at UB reflect that. In his spare time Henry loves to listen to music, play his Fender Strat guitar, read, and hang out with friends.

Peer Ministers

 

Hannah Akin was born in Guatemala, but was adopted and grew up in Mayville NY. She is a student at Buffalo State College pursuing a B.A. in Social Work. She is a passionate fan of the Buffalo Sabres.  In the summertime, you can find her out on lake Chautauqua jamming out to music and enjoying time with friends and family. Her faith and relationship with God is very important to her, she loves to spend time at the Newman center. Hannah attends the 9:30 and 11:30 regularly. She is always up to making new friends, so stop and say hello! Hannah is very thrilled to be a peer minister this year!

Mark Niewiemski, Jr., was born in Buffalo, NY and currently lives in Lancaster, NY. He is a student at Buffalo State College studying for his B.A. in Media Productions. He is also currently discerning a call to the priesthood and hopes to enter the Seminary after receiving his degree. On Sunday he loves to attend Mass at both St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Lancaster, NY where he is an Altar Server, and the Newman Center at Buffalo State, where he plays the piano and the organ alongside Phil and Georgia. His other interests include hanging out with friends, playing the drums in his band NIGHTDRIVE, going to beach, riding roller coasters, and wishes to learn how to surf someday!

Stephanie Pavon was born in Mexico City, but grew up in Marietta, Georgia. She is a student at Buffalo State College pursuing a B.A. in Business Management and a minor in Entrepreneurship. She enjoys painting, drawing, and being creative overall. Stephanie loves to spend time with her three younger siblings and with her little Chihuahua. One of her goals is to some day help children in third world countries to be able to have an education, find God, and have a prosperous life.

Jack Petrillo is a lover of classic cinema, and is attending Buffalo State College for a B.A. Degree in Television and Film Arts. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, and eventually moved with his family to Poughquag, NY. He is also a frequent visitor of the Newman Center as he attends 11:30am Mass regularly, and is very excited for the year to serve as a Peer Minister.
