Chrism Mass: The Chrism Mass is a wonderful experience in the Church. During this liturgy the priests of the Diocese renew their commitment to the ministry. At this Mass, the Bishop blesses the oils used for Baptism, Confirmation, and Ordination. This year’s Chrism Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in downtown Buffalo at 7pm on Tuesday, March 26th.

Dyngus Day Celebration: Attention students! Join us on Monday, April 1st, at 4pm for a Dyngus Day celebration at the Polish Cadets located at 927 Grant Street (next to Buffalo State College - opposite the Tops Plaza). Meet us at Newman around 3:30pm or meet us at the Polish Cadets.

Buffalo is known as the Dyngus Day capital of the world! Dyngus Day is a Polish-American celebration of Easter and the observances of Lent. Celebrations are known for authentic food, music, traditional outfits, and a lot of fun!

“Less Stress and Greater Peace:” Learn why you are never too old to be well, how peace of mind can always grow, and how the same skills can help seniors, the “sandwich generation”, and their children. This program has two parts, the first on Monday, April 15 and the second on Monday, April 22, both from 7-8:30pm. The program will be presented by Dr. Tom DeLoughry, Ed.D. Dr. DeLoughry served as the Director of Drug Abuse and Adolescent Services in Child Psychiatry at Women and Children’s Hospital and the Director of Wellness and Disease Management for Independent Health, and the Director of the Franciscan Retreat Center at Stella Niagara.

Catholic Charities Appeal - 2013: Our workforce development and education programs offer youth the opportunity for education and employment, supporting the goal of individual empowerment and well-being. Your contribution could help them accomplish their goal. Protect, Strengthen, and Empower. Please give to the 2013 Catholic Charities Appeal. If you are registered at Newman, you should have received a pre-printed card in the mail. If you are not registered, but would like to donate, please take one of the blank cards available on the table at the rear entrance of the chapel. Thank you for your generosity.

Soup and Scripture: Join us every Wednesday at 6:15pm for soup and a student-led Scripture Study. We will look deeply into the week’s Gospel and share our faith as a community. All are welcome!

Gacek Scholarships: Attention Catholic BSC students – If you maintain passing grades and are living out your faith in a special way, e.g., volunteering, teaching religious education, serving in youth ministry, promoting social justice issues, or assisting your parish, you are eligible for our annual Michael and Helen Gacek Scholarships. Applications are available on the table in the Community Room. The deadline to apply is April 15th.

Service Project: Students Working Together for a Purpose: Attention all students! On Saturday, April, 20th, join us for Service Saturday, where we will serve with Habitat for Humanity. If you plan to attend, you must sign-up in advance as there is a safety course that you will have to take prior to this Saturday. To sign-up or get more information, contact Campus Minister Carmen Schaff at scahffcb@buffalostate.edu or 882-1080.

Prayer:

Lord,
I know how much you love me.
It’s hard for me to feel it sometimes,
but I know your love is always with me.

Help me to use your love as a way
to persevere in my Lenten intentions.
I am weak, but I know with your help,
I can use these small sacrifices in my life to draw closer to you.

Amen.

Peace,

Fr. Pat, Carmen, Henry, and Michele
