Service Opportunities
This year, the Newman Center has a number of opportunites for students to volunteer their time for community service. We will be working with Little Portion Friary, First Hand Learning, St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, ReStore, and Friends of the Night People. Long Term Service
There are many ways to give of your time and talents. Volunteering is an opportunity to improve the life around us and to grow ourselves. Here are several websites which link volunteers to long-term service commitments. Many of these programs offer school loan different and a chance to explore your personal career goals.
Jesuit Volunteer CorpsThe Jesuit Volunteer Corps or JVC offers many programs nationally and internationally, all based on social justice, community living, and Ignatian Spirituality.
Claretian Volunteer CorpsClaretian Volunteer Corps is a lay volunteer ministry program for women and men grounded in Christian values as witnessed by the Claretians, who have as their model of service, their founder, Father Anthony Claret.
Cap CorpsThe Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Program offers men and women the opportunity to work in direct service to the poor while living a simple lifestyle in community with other volunteers. The spirit and spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi are central to this experience of community and service.
Diocesan Service CorpsThe DSC is a new program here in Buffalo. It offers graduates the opportunity to work with the poor and needy here in Buffalo. Similar to the JVC, it is based in service and simplicity.
