Can anyone apply?
Yes! If you are a Buffalo State undergraduate student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, you are encouraged to apply!
What are the qualifications to be an OL?
Orientation Leaders must:
- Exhibit leadership potential
- Be in good academic standing; minimum of a 2.5 GPA
- Be in good disciplinary standing
- Exhibit knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Orientation
- Exhibit good interpersonal and public speaking skills
- Exhibit the ability to work independently and effectively with a diverse group of students
- Possess a professional attitude and appearance when dealing with faculty, staff, students, and families
- Must be reliable, flexible, responsible, confident, and display a willingness to help
- Demonstrate a desire to learn about Buffalo State, its regulations, its people, its programs, and its community
What does an OL do?
Orientation Leaders are responsible for:
- Attending and actively participating in all training meetings and retreats
- Welcoming new students and family members to the College
- Developing a good rapport with new students
- Be accessible and willing to assist with any information needs of students and families
- Prepare and conduct well-organized and thorough small group meetings for new students
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors
- Take initiative with unanticipated tasks or problems
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
What do I get paid?
Orientation Leaders will receive a stipend of $200 for the January Orientation session and training.
