LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The Buffalo Public School District announced a partnership with the Erie County Chapter of “The Links, Incorporated” and the Liberty Partnerships Program at Buffalo State College to offer 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students an opportunity to participate in a new leadership program titled “Just Say Yes Network: Youth Empowerment for Success Leadership Institute.”  The College and Community Partnerships Office worked with The Links organization over a three year period to develop this partnership. These are photos from the press conference announcing the new partnership.  Please click on the link below:

Summer Feel Goods

It’s a great time to clean your closets/lockers and help those less fortunate at the same time. In addition, if you are traveling over the summer, please keep hotel toiletries that you do not use. We will once again be filling toiletry bags for the Asarese youth to distribute during the holidays 2009.

Receipts to acknowledge your donations will be available via the Alumni Office.

For more information about the event or for drop off sites, call the Office of College and Community Partnerships at 878-5444/4132, The Alumni Office at 878-6001 or Volunteer and Service-Learning Center at 878-5811.

* The Asarese Youth Center is a vital recreational site for youngsters, one block from the College on Rees St. There are about 300 youth per week who attend the center on a regular basis. The majority are from low income families and some are newly arrived refugees. The Asarese Center represents a "safe haven" in which to play and learn.
