ACEI: Association for Childhood Education International
Buffalo State College Emerging Educators Branch
The Mission of the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) is to promote and support the optimal education and development of children, from birth through early adolescence in the global community. ACEI also influences the professional growth of educators and the efforts of others who are committed to the needs of children in our changing society. Since 1892, ACEI members have worked to make the world a better place for children.

Thursday, October 8 Share your favorite childrens books at Children's Literature Night.

Buffalo State College Emerging Educators Branch of ACEI has six meetings through the year. Over the last two years, ACEI completed the following projects:
-Week of the Classroom Teacher Letter Writing Campaign
-“Getting a Teaching Job” with Stephanie Zuckerman-Aviles, director of Career Development.
-“Graduate School Discussion Night” with Dr. Ellen Friedland who discussed student’s options for graduate school.
-Volunteered at the annual PDS (Professional Development Schools) fall retreat.
-“Re-use a Shoe” community service project where members collected rubber soled shoes to donate to the Nike Corporation to re-use to make rubber floored playgrounds which are more safe than traditional wood chip or stone floored playgrounds.
-Social Studies Children's Literature Night
-Presentations at the International ACEI Conference in Tampa, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. Presentation have focused on Metacognitive Learning Strategies, Effective Teacher Qualities and how to be an effective teacher, The Return of Social Studies to Early Childhood Education, and Teaching Social Studies Through Your Community.
-Field trip to Milton Rogovin Exhibit
-Social Studies Education Presentation by Dr. Jill Gradwell and Dr. Nancy Chicola.
-Polar Plunge for Children With Disabilities at Bever Island (Grand Island)
-New and gently used toy drive for Gerard Place
-Art Supply Drive for collecting numerous and various materials for young children in support of individual creativity and imagination
ACEI looks forward to your participation and a great year full of conferences, speakers, and important conversation that is beneficial to all teacher candidates.
After three meetings, you will receive a certificate of membership as part of the ACEI Buffalo State Branch!!!!
