Ph.D. University of Cincinnati, 1981; Mossbauer Effect, Superconductors (resume)

Professor DeMarco has been at the college for over 25 years. Dr. DeMarco studies solids using the Mossbauer effect which is both an applied and pure nuclear physics technique. In his lab, Dr. DeMarco measures the magnetic and electronic properties of insulators, metals, and superconductors. Dr. DeMarco's research routinely involves undergraduates and is well funded. Dr. DeMarco and Dr. Coffey are co-PIs on a $360k grant (2006-2009) from the Department of Energy. This grant includes stipends for undergraduate student researchers.

In his spare time, Mike can be found shooting hoops on the local basketball courts. It is said in Brooklyn, his hometown, that he gave up a career in basketball to play physics.
