Dauber is the author of Rediscovering Hawthorne and The Idea of Authorship in America: Democratic Poetics from Franklin to Melville. He is also the co-editor of Ordinary Language Criticism: Literary Thinking after Cavell after Wittgenstein. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. from Princeton, and his B.A. from Columbia University.
