POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

Political science is the study of government and politics. From Machiavelli to Marx, this academic concentration provides a vast, multi-faceted world view that includes elements of theory, analysis, and philosophy.

The Political Science Department offers a bachelor of arts degree and four minor programs—international relations, legal studies, political science, and public administration —and contains an expansive curriculum that examines national and international political foundations, policies, and issues. The department provides several internship opportunities designed to instill students with firsthand experience and practical understanding of governmental policy and practice.

Graduates of the political science program may go on to administrative careers with federal, state, and local governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, campaign management, diplomacy, teaching and many other career options. Students who attend graduate school generally study international relations, law, public administration, political science, urban planning, or related subjects.
