Master of Public Administration and Nonprofit Management

Buffalo State was well-represented at  the SUNY Model European Union,hosted by SUNY New Paltz.  Buffalo State played Finland, Bulgaria, and the European Commission.

Mock Trial Team Competes at Queen City Classic

The Buffalo State mock trial team competed successfully at the Queen City Classic, an invitational held at the University at Buffalo, November 20–21. Eighteen mock trial teams, including institutions such as Temple University and Michigan State University, competed. The top attorney medal for the entire tournament went to Henry Zomerfeld, a political science major at Buffalo State.

JUST IN TIME: PRE-ELECTION PANEL AND VOTER REGISTRATION OPPORTUNITY

October 8 is the last day to register to vote in the 2010 elections. Accordingly, Peter Yacobucci, assistant professor of political science, and his colleagues have scheduled a panel discussion about the importance of voting and the elections across the nation, in New York State, and locally, Thursday, October 7, during Bengal Pause (from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.) in Bulger Communication Center South 2. Atlantis Cohort Experience

   

 Atlantis Scholars from Buffalo State, SUNY Cortland, Babes Bolayi (Romani), and Manchester Metropolitan (UK).  They are 2010-11 scholarship winners.  They each received $5000/Euro 5000 to study transatlantic public administration and policy.  British students studied at SUNY Cortland  in Fall 2010 and Cortland students at Manchester Met in Spring 2011.  Buffalo State students studied in Romania in Spring 2011 and BBU students studies at Buffalo State in Fall 2011. All of the students met in Buffalo for 2-1/2 days for a cohort experience, which included tours of Buffalo and Niagara Falls and leadership training.  Program funded by a joint grant received by Buffalo State (lead), SUNY Cortland (US Department of Education) and Manchester Metropolitan (lead) and Babes Bolya from the European Union.

BUFFALO STATE CELEBRATES CONSTITUTION DAY

Constitution Day, September 17, marks the anniversary of the date in 1787 when 39 of America’s founding fathers signed the original United States Constitution.

Students in political science debated the constitutionality of Arizona’s Senate Bill 1070, commonly known as SB 1070 or the Arizona immigration law. The debate, open to the campus community, will took place on Thursday, September 16, at 9:25 a.m. in Upton Hall 230. Peter Yacobucci, assistant professor of Political Science, moderated. Read more.
