Dr. MacLean earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Arizona State University. He has been a faculty member at Buffalo State since 1997. Additional positions have included Visiting Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry, University at Buffalo, SUNY, Associate Research Scientist, Research Institute on Addictions, and NIMH Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Addictive Behavior Research Center, University of Washington.
Research Interests: Research focuses on a number of areas related to adolescence and young adulthood: Etiology and Prevention of Substance Use-Related Problems; ADHD; Impulsivity and Decision-Making; Identity Development; Coping and Affect.
Dr. MacLean is currently involved in several research projects, including:

- ADHD Problem Behaviors and Substance Use-Related Problems in Adolescence and Young Adulthood
- Identity Development in College Students
- Brief Interventions for Youth Referred by Courts or Schools for Substance Use-Related Problems

Jillian Panfil: Jillian presented her research at a national conference and at the BSC Student Research and Creativity Day. She plans on applying to graduate programs next year.
Matthew Lee: Matthew completed several research projects, including an honors thesis, and has presented his research at three national conferences. He is currently in the clinical psychology doctoral program at Arizona State University.
Viktoriya Magid: Viktoriya won the Buffalo State College President’s Medal and Chancellor’s Award. She has one article in press and two more under review. She presented her research at two national conferences. She is currently in the clinical psychology doctoral program at the University at Buffalo, SUNY.
