REGISTRAR'S OFFICE

DEGREE NAVIGATOR

TWO PREFIX/DISCIPLINE POLICY

Question: my advisor told me to take SPC205 as I was told it would fulfill a GE2K Humanities requirement.  However, when I looked at my audit a few days later, its not being used there... why is that?

We reviewed your audit and see that you already have COM103 being used in the Humanities requirement, and coursework must come from two different academic disciplines or prefixes in each of these areas.  So you may not use another COM or SPC course in that requirement. Please print off a copy of this email and bring to your advisors attention.  Thank You. Audit

POLICY CONCERNING MINOR PROGRAM

Question: Why wont my minor place all the coursework I took for it?

Answer:  The minors have a restriction placed on them that will not allow the audit to use more than two lower division courses in this area.

Question: What does all the information on my audit sheet mean?

Answer:  Your departmental office staff and/ or advisor can explain the audit sheet to you.  (Undeclared undergraduates must contact the office of Academic Advisement.)  Basic audit information is also contained online at the student login page of Degree Navigator as well as a handout "An Introduction to Buffalo State's Degree Navigator for Students" available via download here.

Question:  Why don't my username and password work on the audit system?

Answer:   You must first verify you are using the correct username, please go to Computing and Technology's username lookup. The password to get into Degree Navigator is always the first six digits of your social security number, this password can not be changed.

Question: Where can I get a copy of my audit sheet?

Answer:  Students can access and print off their own audit sheets online through Degree Navigator.

Question: How can I have a copy of my audit sheet sent to another school:

Answer:  You can't.  The audit sheet is designed for Buffalo State Advisement purposes only.  If you want information about your student records sent to another school, you must request a transcript from the Registrar's Office, Moot Hall 210.

Question: Why Doesn't my transfer credit appear on the audit sheet?

Answer:  Transfer credit is evaluated by the Admissions Office.  Transcripts whould be sent to the Admissions Office, Moot Hall Room 112.  Questions about transfer credit can be direct to the Admissions Office.

Question: Why Doesn't my transfer credit appear where I expect it to on the audit sheet?

Answer:  Transfer credit is applied to your audit per standard equivalencies established by the Admissions Office and the department offering the course at Buffalo State.  Transfer credit can be moved within the major by the department; go to your departmental office and/or advisor.  Re-evaluation of transfer credit for College-wide (diversity, civilizations, applied science) requirements are processed by the Admissions office, Moot Hall 112.  You will likely need to provide support documentation (syllabi, course description) from the previous institution as well as  a memo of support from the department offering the course at Buffalo State.

Question:  I took foreign language courses in High School.  Why doesn’t the requirement appear satisfied on my audit sheet?

Answer:  High school transcripts must be evaluated by the Admissions Office for any notation to appear on your audit sheet.  Be sure you have submitted the high school transcripts.  If you are a transfer student, you may have not submitted your high school transcripts upon first admission to Buffalo State.  And if you were previously in a degree program which did not require foreign language, the requirement may not have been evaluated for you.  Questions about high school transcripts can be direct to the Office of Admissions.

Why don't the basic math and English Requirements appear satisfied on my audit sheet?

Answer:  Documentation of satisfaction of these requirements must be provided to the Registrar's Office by an authorized office on campus.  Documentation is generally provided by:

Academic Skills Center: South Wing 330

Math Placement Exams
Math Department: Bishop Hall 317 Waiver or other exemption of Math Requirement.
English Department: Ketchum Hall 326 English exam results, waivers and other exemptions
Admissions Office: Moot Hall 112 Evaluation of Transfer Credits

If you have questions about the satisfaction of the Basic Math and English requirements, first check with your departmental office.  If necessary, your department... or you.. can follow-up with the appropriate area to ensure that documentation is provided to the Registrar's Office.

Question: Do Graduate Students Have Audit Reports?:

Answer:  No, Degree Navigator is only implemented for the Undergraduate programs at Buffalo State.  Graduate student however can still use Degree Navigator to view their grades.  It is important that graduate students remember they are being evaluated against their candidacy form.
