DEGREE NAVIGATOR ALERTS PAGE
Alert: An adjustment occured on audit as of April 15th, 2008 for all undergraduate students pursuing a BA, BS, BSED, BFA degree. This policy reduces the upper division requirement from 45 credits to 33. Click here for further details.
Alert: An adjustment occurred on audit as of November 3rd 2006 for all GE2K students in accordance with a recent clarification of a policy. This policy states that "students who have taken three semesters of a college level Foreign Language (101, 102, 201) can use the college credit 101 level course in the Humanities requirement category."
· So for example a student that has Spanish fulfilling their foreign language requirement must take the SPA101, 102, 201 college level sequence, to allow for either SPA101 or SPA102 to be used in Humanities.
If the student happens to have another foreign language from High School fulfilling their foreign language requirement, then they are allowed the use of a different foreign language (different prefix) in the Humanities area. (College Credit ONLY.)
· So for example: If you have SPA102 from high school fulfilling your foreign language requirement, the audit is allowed to use a college credit bearing language from a different prefix such as ITA102 in the Humanities area.
Please check your audit before registration and assure you have not been negatively impacted by this adjustment. If you have, we recommend the following:
· Assure you have had your high school transcript sent and that your audit reflects any successfully completed foreign language coursework.
· Students with an A.A. or A.S. degree, please see this information: http://www.buffalostate.edu/registrar/x631.xml
· File a petition with Academic Standards for list B Humanities 3 credits.
Students who are not graduating in December, as always, have the right to appeal; however, students who have a number of credit hours free to complete the requirement before graduation will likely have the appeal denied and be held current policy.
· Continue to meet with your advisor
· Register for a list B Humanities course to cover your bases.
There is an automatic waiver for ALL December 2006 graduates ....for 3 credits in the Humanities area ...only if you were negatively impacted by this adjustment.
Alert: The following changes have been made within Degree Navigator for students following the GE2K General Education guidelines:
1. The Basic Math requirement has been updated so that math courses are no longer required in combination. Now either MAT126 or MAT311 or MAT161 by itself will complete that area.
2. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree now only need to demonstrate proficiency at the 102 level of the foreign language area.
3. The two-prefix rule no longer applies to the three different Civilization requirements, so for example students may use three different history courses to fulfill each Civilization.
4. More acceptable coursework has been added to the different cognate areas. Please reference this document: www.buffalostate.edu/registrar/documents/ge2000.htm
Alert: The Major GPA calculation has been reprogrammed on the audit in accordance with Buffalo States "E" repeat policy. If a student is questioning their new major GPA calculation please consult the bottom of the audit in the section that says "Major GPA, courses used in this calculation". Any questions regarding this can also be answered by emailing audit@buffalostate.edu
