Buffalo State will occasionally receive notifications of various scholarship opportunities from outside sources, and we would like to tell you about them.  They are listed below.  It is our hope that this will assist some of our students in finding another avenue to fund their education.  Discover all kinds of possibilities by using a search engine to find other scholarships, perhaps one that zones in on your major or career path.

Current External Scholarship Opportunities   

  • NYS Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Incentive Program - provides a full SUNY or CUNY tuition scholarship for the top 10 percent of students in each New York State high school if they pursue a STEM degree in an associates or bachelor degree program and agree to work in a STEM field in New York State for 5 years after graduation.
    Deadline :  August 15, 2014

If a program of study does not appear on the list of approved programs, either the campus or students/parents can complete the form and submit it to HESC to consider including it on the list.  The form can be accessed from the STEM fact sheet on HESC's website.  A seperate form must be completed for each program of study.

  • The Asian Women In Business Scholarship - encourages and promotes exceptional Asian female students who have attributes to be our next generation of leaders.  
    Deadline: October 1, 2014

  • The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students.  To be eligible the student needs to answer one of the essay questions which will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted. 
    Deadline: October 6, 2014

  • offers scholarships - help for working parents toward tuition costs.
    Deadline :  December 15, 2014
  • Much earlier this year, the "A Place for Mom's Senior Care Innovation Scholarship" is being offered to those in fields of gerontology, medicine, nursing, social work, sociology, psychology, PT/OT, speech pathology or long-term care administration.
    Deadline April 15, 2015. 

Programs that host a continuing number of scholarships with varying deadline dates:

  • The HotelsCheap Scholarship Program offers college scholarships to students aspiring to achieve a higher education and facing the rising cost of tuition, which is not always covered by financial aid.  There are a number of scholarships available.  Please visit the site for details.
  • offers an array of scholarships. They believe in simplifying the scholarship search process in helping students find scholarships to pay for college and grad school.  Details can be found on the website.
  • Since 2003, has been providing a comprehensive database of scholarships for students. Varying amounts are awarded and each has their own list of eligibility requirements.  Visit the site to see if you are able to apply.
