MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

*All College Honors Scholarship - criteria is based on high school average, SAT/ACT score, and application.  Participation in Honor Program seminars.  Scholarship award is renewable, must maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (gpa).  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.   Award is $2000 for academic year 2008-2009.  The award for academic year 2009-2010 will be $2500.

*Presidential Scholarship - awarded to high school seniors who have a 90 grade point average (gpa) or higher, SAT score of 1200 or ACT score of 26.  Scholarship award is renewable for four continuous enrollment years. Students must maintain a 3.2 cumulative gpa.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $1500 per academic year.

*Provost Scholarship - awarded to high school seniors who have a 90 grade point average (gpa) or higher, SAT scores between 1100 and 1190 or ACT score of 24/25.  Scholarship award is renewable for four continuous enrollment years.  Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative gpa.  Students with SAT scores above 1190 or ACT scores above 25 are not eligible for the Provost Scholarship but are eligible for the Presidential Scholarship.  Scholarship is only awarded to those students who are enrolled for the fall term.  Award is $1000 per academic year. 

*Dean's Scholarship - awarded to high school seniors who have a 90 grade point average (gpa) or higher, with SAT scores (critical math and reading) between 1000 and 1090 or ACT score of 22/23.  Scholarship award is renewable for four continuous enrollment years. Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative gpa.  Students with SAT scores above 1090 or ACT scores above 23 are eligible for the Provost or Presidential Scholarship, you can can only qualify for one award.  Scholarship is only awarded to those students who are enrolled for the fall term.  Award is $500 per academic year.

Miss Buffalo/Miss NY Scholarship - awarded to winner and runners-up of Miss Buffalo pageant and to contestants of Miss NY pageant.  Must have a high school grade point average (gpa) of 90 or higher.  Recipients must have an SAT score of 1200 or higher or ACT score of 26 or higher to be awarded $1500 per year (Tier 1) or have an SAT score between 1100 and 1190 or ACT score of 24/25 to be awarded $1000 per year (Tier 2).  The scholarship is renewable up to four consecutive years if students maintains a 3.2 cumulative gpa (Tier 1) or 3.0 cumulative gpa (Tier 2).  Recipients cannot simultaneously receive the President's or Provost's scholarships.

Miss Buffalo/Miss NY Scholarship - awarded to winner and runners-up of Miss Buffalo pageant and to contestants of Miss NY pageant.  Recipients must have a transfer grade point average (gpa) of 3.2 or higher to be awarded $1500 per year (Tier 1) or must have a transfer grade point average (gpa) of 3.0 or higher to be awarded $1000 per year (Tier 2).  The scholarship is renewable for up to two consecutive years if student maintains a 3.2 cumulative gpa (Tier 1) or 3.0 cumulative gpa (Tier 2).  Recipients cannot simultaneously receive the Presidential or Provost scholarships.

Dr. Anna P. Burrell Scholarship - criteria is based on high school average, class rank, extra-curricular involvement in high school and community, must be a New York State (NYS) resident.  Participation in Burrell seminars.  Scholarship award is renewable, must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.  Award is $1000 per academic year.  Must complete application to be considered, click here.

Ross B. Kenzie Family Scholarship - criteria is based on class rank and high school average.  Scholarship award is renewable, must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $2000 per academic year.

S-STEM Scholarship - is offered to incoming high school seniors who demonstrate financial need and are majoring in the sciences, technology and mathematics disciplines.  The list of academic majors are: Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Geology, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Information Systems, and Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Technology.  Have a high school average of 85 or higher, participate in STEM workshops and complete the S-STEM application.  Please visit the S-STEM website for more information at www.buffalostate.edu/connectwithscience.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  The award is $2000 per semester for up to eight consecutive semesters.

Mildred K. Vogelsang Scholarship - awarded to minority students majoring in the Sciences and Technology.  Based on high school average, SAT/ACT score, and recommendation from science or technology teacher.  Scholarship award is renewable, must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $1000 per academic year.

Robert J. Lamendola Scholarship - given to a graduating senior from Kenmore East or West High School.  Scholarship award is renewable.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $5000 per academic year.

Caryl Brennan Forrest Scholarship - criteria is based on high school average, student must be pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $1500 per academic year.

M. Robert & Hilda Stein Koren - awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Education, Speech Language Pathology, or Pre-law.  Based on academic merit.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.

Ann M. Idzik Scholarship - awarded to a high graduate of St. Francis High School, Athol Springs, New York.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $1000 per academic year.

Gertrude Angert Victor Scholarship - awarded to a student majoring in Art Education.  Must demonstrate academic excellence and meet with the donor annually.  This scholarship is renewable.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $1250 per academic year.

Lois W. Pearson & Marion H. Benz Scholarship - awarded to a high school senior who is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.  The scholarship is renewable, student must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $500 per academic year.

Genevieve C. & Richard C. Brown Scholarship - candidate must be a female, documented honorable discharge (DD214), and submit an essay.  Scholarship is renewable and award amounts varies.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.

Hudson Scholarship - awarded to a high school senior from Orchard Park Central School, majoring in Elementary or Secondary Education.  Based on financial need and high school average.  Scholarship is only awarded for those students who enroll for the fall term.  Award is $1200 per academic year.

1LT Michael T. Morrisey US Army Memorial Scholarship Fund - awarded to two students from Grand Island High School, one student from Niagara Falls High School, and one student from Palmyra-Macedon Central High School.  Students must see High School Guidance Counselors.  Scholarship award is renewable and award amount varies.

Ethan Allen Home Interiors Scholarship- awarded to high school seniors graduating with a B or better average from any public or private school in Erie or Niagara County who plan to pursue a degree in Interior Design.  Please contact the scholarship office for an application.  The deadline date is April 1st.
