Thompson Scholarship for Women in Safety - the sponsor provides an award for women pursuing a graduate degree in safety engineering, safety management, occupational health, nursing, occupational medicine, risk management, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, fire safety, environmental safety, environmental health or any other closely related fields.  ASSE student membership not required for this award.  Applicants must graduate in May 2009 or later to be eligible for any of these awards.  For more information go to www.asse.org/foundation/scholarships/scholarships.phpDeadline: December 1st.

Joseph T. Weingold Scholarship - awarded to sophomore students who are enrolled full-time in a degree program leading to special education certification.  For further information, go to http://www.nysarc.org/publications/Joseph.pdfDeadline: Nominations must be submitted to the NYSARC, Inc. State Office no later than December 1st.  Once submitted, NYSARC, Inc. will mail all nominees the Scholarship Application Form.  It will be the responsibility of each nominee to complete the form and return it with all necessary information to the NYSARC, Inc. State Office on or before January 12th.

NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Scholarship -  The NCAA awards 13 scholarships to ethnic minorities and 13 scholarships to female college graduates who will be entering their initial year of postgraduate studies.   The applicant must be seeking admission or have been accepted into a sports administration or related program that will help the applicant obtain a career in intercollegiate athletics; such as, athletics administrator, coach, athletic trainer or other careers that provide a direct service to intercollegiate athletics.  Must be a US citizen and no prior postgraduate studies.  For application and other requirements, visit the website at http://www.ncaa.org/wps/ncaa?ContentID=572Deadline: December 5th.

Naral Pro-Choice America T-shirt Contest - Win $1000 by entering a t-shirt design contest.  NARAL recently launched a new and innovative campaign, free.will.power, with the goal of alerting young people to the challenges facing a pro-choice America.  What do the words free.will.power mean to you?  What does it mean to have a choice?  Let the sponsor know by submitting your design on their website.  Go to http://www.myfreewillpower.com/create/ to get the design kit and to submit your design.  Deadline:  December 5th.

Pano Scholarship - The scholarship is made available through donations from Pano's Restaurant located on 1081 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, New York.  Scholarship applicants must be a sophomore, junior or senior to qualify.  The award categories are single mothers 25 years and older and ethnic minorities.  Click here to download application or visit the Scholarship Office, MH230.   Deadline:  December 12th. William B.
