Mattai holds a Ph.D. & M.Ed. in Social Foundations of Education & Comparative International Education from the University of Pittsburgh, and M.A. in Religion & Society from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and a B.A. (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies & University of London.
Mattai’s areas of scholarly endeavors include Race & Ethnic Issues & Schooling in Cross Cultural Contexts, Urban Education, and Comparative International Education. His professional activities include serving as President (2006-2009) for the Global Federation of Association for Teacher Education; Immediate Past President (2006-2007) for the Association for Teacher Educators; and Editor of the Child Study Journal.
