SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

OFFICE OF THE DEAN

Message from Dean Rochon

On behalf of our faculty, staff, and student body, I welcome you to explore the Buffalo State College School of Education website.

The School of Education was founded in 2005 with the reorganization of the former Faculty of Applied Science and Education. Our programs include Educational Foundations, Elementary Education and Reading, and Exceptional Education. Additionally, the School of Education houses the Center for Excellence in Urban and Rural Education (CEURE) and the Woods-Beals Endowed Chair for Excellence in Urban and Rural Education, the campus’s first endowed chair.

The mission of the School of Education includes a commitment to enhancing the intellectual, personal and professional growth of future educators. It is our aim to prepare future teachers and related professionals to maintain a sense of individual responsibility and generate a legacy of integrity, dedication, and passion for creating educational settings that are responsive to and respectful of the needs of all individuals whom we are fortunate to serve.

It is with great enthusiasm that we offer this site as a vehicle for students and visitors to learn more about our School of Education. As dean, I am honored to work with our students, staff, and faculty as we adhere to the Buffalo State College strategic goal of improving the quality of public education throughout the region and state. Moreover, I am humbled to lead the dynamic effort of enriching our nation’s schools and communities that are served by our graduates. Please feel free to email my office directly if you have any questions or comments regarding our website or programs.

Enjoy your online visit!

Ronald S. Rochon, Ph.D.
