Admissions Requirements

Current Buffalo State College Students

Freshman and sophomore students wishing to major in social work are assigned to pre-social work . The benefit is social work advisement. 

Admission to the social work major requires the following at the time of application:

  1. 45 credit hours completed 
  2. A GPA of 2.5  
  3. Successful completion of CWP101/102, Math 311, and BIO101.
  4. Significant progress toward the liberal arts degree requirements (e.g., PSY 101 and SOC 101 completed).

Transfer Students must...
  1. Apply to Buffalo State College.
  2. Have a GPA of 2.5 or better and 45 earned credit hours
  3. Fulfilled the college English (CWP 101/102), Math 311, in addition to BIO101
  4. Completed PSY101 and SOC101
