Research Interests: I conduct research on aspects of language and cognition across the life span and in persons with neurologic communication disorders. Areas of research: life span research on figurative language and its relation to literacy development, efficacy of strategy intervention for older adults, working memory in aphasia, cognitive-linguistic aging, and multicultural and professional issues. I direct undergraduate and graduate research projects and serve on doctoral committees. My research, teaching, and service activities exemplify my commitment to fully understand the impact of culture for persons with speech, language, and communication disorders.
