The Science Education Program prepares students to be secondary and middle school teachers in content area for all natural sciences, including biology, chemistry, earth sciences, physics and general science. Student study leads to teaching certification in New York State.

 Announcing a NEW M.S.Ed. in Science Education Program!

The faculty at Buffalo State College would like to announce a new program that will begin in the Fall of 2012.  The new degree (M.S.Ed.) will allow you to complete, in one year, a Master’s degree and obtain an initial certificate to teach in your science major area (Biology, Chemistry,  Earth Science or Physics).  The program is a total of 37cr which Includes student teaching.       

Program Requirements:

  • Must have a BS or BA in a core science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Earth Science) with a minimum of 30 area of concentration.
  • GPA Requirement:  2.5 Overall GPA (on a 4pt scale) with a 2.75 in the Science Certification area.
