STRATEGIC PLANNING

Define the critical elements of distinctiveness and develop rubrics for measuring distinctiveness and evaluating programs.

Process

  1. Form task force on academic and institutional distinctiveness.

  2. Form subsequent work groups to refine rubrics based on feedback.
Committee Charge
  1. Define 3-5 critical elements that make a program, initiative or horizontal theme distinct. These elements should be specific and measurable.

  2. Develop a rubric that defines or describes levels of achievement for each critical element wherein
    • 1= Nationally distinct
    • 2=Regionally distinct
    • 3=SUNY distinct
    • 4=Locally distinct

  3. Develop an overall scale (and weights) that incorporates the rubric analysis of critical elements for evaluation of programs and initiatives.

  4. Develop an overall scale (and weights) that incorporates the rubric analysis of critical elements for evaluation of planned or potential programs and initiatives that do not yet exist.
