National studies have found campus residency to correlate positively with student learning and retention. Buffalo State College is a residential SUNY campus whose programs are designed to provide enhanced opportunities for learning, retention, and a well-rounded education for students.
All full-time first-year and sophomore students whose permanent residence is beyond a 35-mile radius of Buffalo State College are required to reside on campus for four consecutive semesters or 57 credits. Those exempt from the requirement include married students, single parents, transfer students, veterans, students over age 21, or students residing with relatives.
