Off-campus Orientation (Afternoon)

Time: 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Location: Bacon Hall 115

The Dean of Students and the Student Life Office sponsor this off-campus orientation program, targeting commuters who don’t live with their parents and who reside in neighborhoods adjacent to the college (zip codes 14222 and 14215).

The program will be presented twice on Thursday, August 30: at 12:15 p.m. in Bacon Hall 115 and then again at 8:45 p.m. in Bacon Hall 117.

The program is designed to inform students who are residing in neighborhoods adjacent to the college about:

• The Compact For A Civil and Caring Community
• The Buffalo State Student Good Neighbor Pledge
• New York State, City of Buffalo, and Erie County laws regulating tenant occupancy, noise, and alcohol consumption
• Commuter Council and services provided by the Student Life Office
• Behavioral expectations and the consequences for inappropriate behavior

We ask that you encourage all commuters to attend this very informative program, especially those considering getting their own apartment. For all questions regarding this program, please feel free to contact Tamara L. McMillan in the Student Life Office at (716) 878-4631.

Weeks of Welcome: Thursday Night Dinners

Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Location: 1219 Elmwood Avenue Buffalo, NY 14222Newman Center

Join us for Thursday night dinners, every Thursday night, starting August 30. All dinners are free and home-cooked. Take a break from schoolwork and dorm food and join in with a great group of Buffalo State students. You're welcome to hang out after the meal for a game of pool, to watch TV, or to just relax with friends.

Weeks of Welcome: Darien Lake Trip

Time: 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Location: 9993 Allegheny Road Darien Center, NY 14040Darien Lake Theme Park Resort

Experience one of New York’s greatest wooden roller coaster, the Predator. It is the tallest wooden coaster in New York State and is rated one of the top wooden coasters in the world. Or experience Thunder Rapids, a log ride with two drops, a tunnel and splash zones. The park also features over 100 rides and a water park. Seats will fill up fast. Tickets can be purchased in person or online at the Rockwell Hall ticket office. Buses will leave Grover Cleveland circle at 4:00 p.m. and return to campus by 11:00 p.m.
