Weeks of Welcome: Sky Zone Trip

Time: 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Location: 425 Cayuga Road, Cheektowaga, NY 14225Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park

Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park, the creator of the world's first all-trampoline, walled playing court, is perfect for just about any age, shape, or physical ability. Sky Zone features an endless sea of trampolines, all connected to form one massive trampoline surface. Seats will fill up fast.  Tickets can be purchased in person or online at the Rockwell Hall ticket office. Buses will leave Grover Cleveland circle at 7:30 p.m. and return to campus by 10:30 p.m.

Come see the Buffalo Zoo’s exciting animal collection. The Buffalo Zoo, located in Delaware Park, sits on 23.5 acres and is the third oldest zoo in the United States. It houses some of the world’s most exotic and endangered wildlife. We will picnic in the park and walk to the zoo. Seats will fill up fast. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the Rockwell Hall ticket office. Buses will leave Grover Cleveland Circle at 12:45 p.m. and return to campus by 4:15 p.m.

Time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Location: E. H. Butler Library 210

Come hear about the benefits of participating in the NIA Mentor program. The program pairs incoming freshmen students of color with a faculty/staff mentor and a peer mentor for a year-long relationship. This nationally recognized program is committed to the academic and personal success of students of color entering a predominantly white college campus. Meet faculty, staff, and former students. Also features an after-dinner yogurt bar.

Weeks of Welcome: Buffalo State Pride T-shirt Contest

The Student Life Office is challenging all Buffalo State students. We are looking for the best T-shirt design (long or short-sleeved). Show your Buffalo State pride by submitting a design. The design can be for the front, back, sleeve, or any combination. Students can stop by the Student Life Office to pick up an official rules sheet to learn more. The top three designs will be put to a student vote to determine the winner. Prizes will be given to the top designs. The voting will take place on Tuesday, September 11, during Bengal Pause in Perry quad.

The Anne Frank Project Conference 2012: Embracing Responsibility

The Anne Frank Project is a free, four day conference where speakers, artists, dancers, actors, musicians, scientists, sociologists, psychologists, writers, singers, storytellers, and survivors examine our world's repeated desire to rise above oppressive actions such as genocide and war. Examine where we have fallen short by understanding our inability to accept differences. This year's theme is "Our Shared Humanity: Embracing Responsibility."

Rooftop Poetry Club features Robin Brox and Kristina Darling

Join the Rooftop Poetry Club on Tuesday, Sept. 25th from 12:15-1:15, in the International Students Reading Area (3rd floor, SE Quadrant), featuring poets Robin Brox and Kristina Darling.


Robin F. Brox is a poet, book artist, and teacher who lives on Buffalo's west side. She has degrees from The University of Maine, Orono and UB, and has been teaching writing professionally since 2003. The founder of Saucebox, a performance series turned small press, Robin produces handmade books and hosts poetry readings featuring women writers. Her book Sure Thing was published by BlazeVOX [books] in 2011. Robin's poetry has appeared in The Buffalo News, Artvoice, Lungfull!, Psychic Rotunda, and other journals; she has published several chapbooks including an excerpt from a weirdly fun four-part poem written with the help of Google Translate software, "A. Concoct Key Gush Run," an instant-mini chapbook from Binge Press (2010), and others under the Saucebox Books imprint. Robin's next book, Pomegranates, is forthcoming from Xexoxial Editions. She is proud to be part of Buffalo Poets Theater, for whom she acts as technical and assistant director.
 

Kristina Marie Darling is the author of eight books of poetry, which include the forthcoming Petrarchan (BlazeVOX Books, 2013) and Palimpsest (Patasola Press, 2012). Her awards include a Yaddo residency, a Helene Wurlitzer Foundation fellowship, and an artist grant from the Kittredge Fund. She is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Poetics at S.U.N.Y.-Buffalo.

Weeks of Welcome: Tailgate at the Women’s Soccer Game

Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Location: Houston Gym Sports Arena

Join us for a series of tailgate parties and be a Bengal who supports Bengals. The tailgate parties will occur in Lot L-1 before games. Come hungry, as we will be cooking for you on game day and be prepared for giveaways and grand prizes. On game day, Buffalo State fans wear orange and black. Our passionate fanbase shows a great amount of creativity on game day, so join us, build community, and support your team. A prize will be given to the best dressed fan and the fan that shows the most school spirit.

Welcome in the fall season with a trip to the Corn Maize. Seats will fill up fast. Tickets can be purchased in Rockwell Hall at the box office from 9:00 am. to 5:00 p.m. beginning Tuesday, August 21, Monday through Friday. Buses will leave Grover Cleveland circle at 5:15 p.m. and return to campus by 10:00 p.m.
