The study tour exposes participants to the legacy of 500 years of history, including the influence of the three main ethnic roots (Indian, Spanish and African), as well as cultural, economic, political, educational and social issues in Puerto Rico.

Thus, it provides a forum for the discovery and exploration of facts as well as hands on experience.

Students who wish to expand and practice their Spanish language skills may do so through interactions in formal and informal settings. Both native speakers of Spanish and non-native speakers will be able to observe, interact, compare and reflect on the cultural and ethnic traits, character, ideas and ways of thinking of the Puerto Rican people concerning social, economic and political issues.
