What Does "Non-Degree" Mean? (CODE 7000)
Students with a bachelor's degree who have not been admitted
to a Master's or certification program may apply to this status. Students
denied admission to a major or premajor for the summer semester cannot be
admitted to non-degree status. In order to assure that those attending in this
status understand the implications of attendance as a non-degree student, we
ask that you carefully read the following information.
- Financial Aid is not available, but alternative loans may be.
Contact Financial Aid
for information, Moot Hall, (716) 878-4902.
- Download, complete and submit a Non-degree Application to the
Graduate School. Allow three business days from our receipt of required
materials for application processing before attempting to use the SABRE system
or to register.
- Submit sealed official transcripts from the institution granting
bachelor's (or highest) degree along with the $50 nonrefundable application fee
and the non-degree student application to the Graduate School Office, Cleveland
Hall 204. An admission decision will not be made until these materials are
received.
- Non-degree status is for one semester only. Students intending to
take course work at Buffalo State in future semesters must apply to a graduate
degree or certification program by stated deadline dates.
- Only courses with open quotas (not reserved for majors or
premajors) are available contingent upon seat availability.
- Coursework completed in this status, regardless of grade received,
will not necessarily be accepted by the academic department to meet degree
requirements should the student be admitted to a degree/certification program
for a future semester.
- Students are responsible for complying with all procedures related
to registration and financial liability if withdrawing from coursework after
registration ends.
