The NYSTCE exams are offered several times a year and there are several testing sites to choose from. You may view the exam schedule by visiting the testing site at www.nystce.nesinc.com. A list of testing sites is available when you register.
The NYSTCE exams may be taken at any time, however:
- Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (LAST) and LPAs should be taken your sophomore or junior year in college, after completion of the most basic liberal arts and sciences coursework, or when directed to by your department.
- Assessment of Teaching Skills-Written (ATS-W) should be taken upon completion of pedagogical coursework and field experiences. Many students take the ATS-W just before or during student teaching.
- Content Specialty Test (CST) may be taken when all content courses are completed.
