We don't just want our students to change the world, we expect it!
The Theater Department at Buffalo State College strives to provide the highest caliber of theater training for young artists and citizens of our diverse world. We accomplish this by offering intense pre-professional training in the performing arts within the confines of a rigorous liberal arts education. Student-artists are placed in the center of the creative process by touching all aspects of theater and then defining their area of specialization by choosing a track: acting, design, directing/dramaturgy, or technical production. Emphasis is placed on hands-on exploration and the making of theater, thus multiple opportunities for doing are available from the onset of the training. Student-artists are encouraged to use the skills they learn on and behind the stage, in front of the camera and in all aspects of their lives. The Theater Department at Buffalo State College endeavors to empower our students with the tools needed to impact their world in positive ways.
