The Title III grant includes funding to create 3 smart classrooms each year over the five year life of the grant. This is consistent with one goals of the project to promote the use of technology where appropriate and to create learning environments that are both esthetically pleasant and amenable to student centered pedagogies.
In the first year we have designated three rooms in Ketchum Hall to be renovated with the intent of making these rooms more convenient for instructors teaching MAT 121 and MAT 122, courses required of all students majoring in elementary education. One of the features of these renovations is convenient storage space for manipulatives which are frequently used in these two courses. These rooms are, of course, available for instructors in other courses as well.
