The hospitality and tourism curriculum prepares graduates for management positions in various aspects of the hospitality industry. Career opportunities exist for managers in restaurants, hotels, clubs, casino and gaming, resorts, catering operations, residential and health care, school and university food service, sales, production, travel and tourism, and other components of industry/business.
The department’s mission is to educate and develop enterprising students to become leaders in regional and global hospitality-tourism professions. The faculty are dedicated to frequent student interactions leading to effective learning and higher achievement.

Transfer or undeclared students desiring to major in this program must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in previous college credits.
Hospitality administration majors are prepared for careers in the hospitality industry as managers of hotels, resorts, restaurants, and tourist destinations.
Recent graduates have been hired as food service and catering managers, international travel consultants, hotel front-desk managers, restaurant managers, executive sous chefs, sales coordinators, and purchasing agents. Typical hiring firms include national and international restaurants and hotels, convention centers, tourist destinations, and institutions such as schools and colleges. Entrepreneurial students may open their own restaurants.
Students may attend graduate school to earn a master of business administration (M.B.A.) or another advanced degree.
Recent graduates have been hired by companies such as the Adam's Mark; AAA; Buffalo Club; Buffalo Hotel Supply Company; Hyatt Hotels and Resorts; Marriott Hotels, Resorts, and Suites; and T.G.I. Friday's.
