The Daily is sent as both HTML and plain text. The version of the Daily you see depends on the settings in your e-mail client. Setting your e-mail client to receive HTML e-mail will allow you to see the images and "fancified" layout of the Daily. Set to plain text, you'll receive the same content, minus the photos and HTML-dependent layout.
Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Entourage, Apple Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! Mail.
By default, campus installations of Outlook and Entourage don't automatically display images in HTML messages. To change this behavior, do one of the following:
Outlook:
1. Add the Daily to your Safe Senders List
To have Daily images show up every day by taking action only once, click on the gray bar and select "Add Sender to Safe Senders List." This marks the Daily as a "safe sender," and images will now load automatically with every issue. (Don't worry, it doesn't add all HTML mail senders as "safe senders.")
2. Download Pictures Every Day
To display Daily images on an issue-by-issue basis, click on the gray bar and select "Download Pictures" or right-click anywhere it says "Right-click here to download pictures." From the pop-up menu, click "Download Pictures."
3. Start/Stop Receiving All Your E-mail as Plain Text
Step 1: From the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Preferences
Step 2: Click E-mail Options and check/uncheck Read all standard mail in plain text
Note: The HTML version of the Daily does not render in the Web-based interface of Outlook, which is accessed via http://bscmail.buffalostate.edu/exchange, primarily by off-campus users.
Entourage: To display the images on issue-by-issue basis, click on the yellow bar or anywhere it says "Download Pictures."
Apple Mail: To display the images on issue-by-issue basis, click "Download Pictures."
