What made you get involved with WBNY?

I got involved with WBNY because I went to Buffalo State College specifically to learn about radio broadcasting. It was my dream to be on the radio. I grew up listening to KB as a kid, then WPhD and Q-FM-97. I can tell you what song was playing the first time I walked into WBNY (which was still WSCB-AM back then).

What time is your show and what type of show do you have?

My show is Sunday mornings 7a-9a. It's very straightforward: I play some songs. I tell you what they were. It reflects one of the two kinds of radio I like best (the other is lots of information about songs & artists).

How long have you been at WBNY?

Hard to believe my first WSCB show was in September 1975. I've tried to stay involved through the years. I've been back on for the last 5 years.

Who are your favorite bands or artists?

My favorite band around the time we went FM was U2. Jennifer Flynn at Home of the Hits suggested I buy their first LP, and I was hooked. One of the things that brought me back was the music of Massive Attack. I also really like Spoon and M83.

Who is your favorite local band?

Speaking of trip-hop like Massive Attack, Dotsun Moon is my favorite local group. The 4am CD is brilliant.

Words or Phrase you try to live by or influences you?

If there's a phrase I try to live by, it's something you might catch me muttering underneath my breath when action needs to be taken: "You will, or you won't. You do, or you don't." It just means: what's the harm in trying? You're already here. Go for it.
