All full time students are required to have health insurance.
Students who have their own insurance are required to complete an online waiver to avoid being enrolled in the college's health insurance plan. The deadline to waive out of the health insurance plan for Fall was September 30th and Spring is February 24th.
Buffalo State College Health Insurance is administered by Consolidated Health Plans. The premium for 2013 - 2014 annual plan is $1,779 (includes $30 administrative fee) and covers August 13, 2013 through August 12, 2014.
Students registered for 12 credit hours or more, (undergraduate and graduate) are automatically enrolled into Buffalo State Health Insurance Plan and their Student Account will be charged for the health insurance premium. Students with their own private health insurance are required to complete an Online Health Insurance Waiver Form [a link to waive the insurance is available in June for Fall and in December for Spring]. You will need to have your insurance card available to provide proof of insurance information on the waiver. Completing the waiver removes the student from enrollment in the Buffalo State Health Insurance Plan and eliminates the charges for the health insurance from their student account provided medical or pharmacy claims have not been submitted.
Students who failed to complete the waiver by the deadline will be charged for the Bfuffalo State Insurance Plan. There are no extensions to this deadline.
Students who have previously waived and have lost their insurance are responsible to request to be enrolled per Buffalo State Mandated Insurance Policy. Students are required to complete the waiver once during their time at Buffalo State.
Students who waived the Buffalo State Health Insurance are eligible to use the services provided at the health center. Weigel Health Center is funded by the Student Health Fee, which is separate from the SUNY Buffalo State Health Insurance Plan.
